Weekly Marketing Picks: Attention Into Action

This week's marketing picks did more than simply grab attention. From Dr.Now's fake diet-shot experience to Sayvoca and MOFA's travel safety campaign, and T1 x Kakao Friends' collectible character lineup, each campaign gave people a reason to interact, use, or collect. Different ideas, same result: marketing that turned attention into action.

Dr.Now — Maumjaro

Dr.Now created Maumjaro, a fake diet injection inspired by the buzz around weight-loss drugs. Users could place their phone against their stomach for a playful "injection" experience, powered by the so-called Fakebo Effect. But the joke didn't end there — the experience led users to Dr.Now's actual weight-management services, turning a meme into a real app funnel.

Trending keyword → branded entertainment
Playful, shareable experience → easy to try and spread
Viral attention → real app funnel Why it worked

Sayvoca x MOFA

Sayvoca and Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a travel safety campaign featuring a cinematic campaign film and in-app emergency English lessons. The campaign also introduced a functional Safety Cover with key phrases, a consular hotline, and RFID protection. The campaign film reached 2.2 million views, bringing travel safety information into social feeds through emotional storytelling.

Emergency English → real-life purpose
Film + app learning + functional product → one connected experience
Peak vacation season → perfect campaign timing Why it worked

T1 x Kakao Friends

T1 and Kakao Friends returned with a second collaboration that transformed five players into distinct versions of Choonsik. Their personalities, signature poses, and fan-favorite memes were translated into a wide product lineup, from plush keyrings and figures to desk mats and apparel. Rather than repeating the same team logo across products, the collaboration gave fans a character built around the player they support.

Player personalities + fan memes → character IP
Digital stickers + physical goods → collaboration across formats
A character per player → a reason to collect them all Why it worked

What Made Them Stand Out?

These campaigns did more than deliver a message. Each one turned an existing interest into a reason to participate — through interaction, utility, or collectibility. Dr.Now moved a trend into interaction. Sayvoca x MOFA moved information into utility. T1 x Kakao Friends moved fandom into collectibility. Three different mechanics, the same underlying principle: give people something to do with their attention, not just something to look at.
